Veterinary Hospital of Dr. Lauralyn J. Brown

In this exciting commercial renovation, Integrity transformed a residential duplex into a beautiful new premier animal hospital in Turners Falls, MA. Doctor Lauralyn J. Brown established her veterinary practice in 1994 but outgrew her office space as the hospital’s reputation for quality care grew. In 2013, Dr. Brown began her search for a larger facility close to their existing office to accommodate and maintain the practice’s local clientele. 

Throughout this search process, Integrity provided guidance to Dr. Brown in the form of preliminary plans and concepts. After considering several properties, the perfect opportunity presented itself – a residential duplex neighboring the hospital became available for purhcase. Once the purchase was finalized, Dr. Brown engaged Integrity to guide her team through the design and construction process.

The design process was informed by Dr. Brown’s commitment to creating a “fear free” hospital environment for her animal patients. A number of unique design elements were integrated into the project to achieve this, such as extra wide window sills so cats can comfortably perch with views of the surrounding woods. The lobby was also kept intentionally open to reduce stress on the animals as they navigate through the check-in and weighing process. These animal considerations were balanced with the needs and desires of the hospital’s eleven staff members. Integrity engaged personnel in discussions regarding their ideal workflows and equipment needs to ensure the building’s square footage was maximized to its fullest potential.

The new veterinary hospital is outfitted with two exam rooms, a fully stocked pharmacy, x-ray room, operating room, sterilization room, and staff support areas. The spaces are united by a fresh and calming color palette, modern and durable finishes, and abundant natural light.
